We use two patient friendly lasers, a diode and an erbium-YAg, in our practice. We are proud that we have committed to invest in these state of the art instruments. They allow us to provide our patients with comfortable, preventive, minimally invasive treatment options for both soft tissues like gums and hard tissues like teeth and bone.
There's no vibraton from lasers. Tooth decay and some fillings can be removed without anesthetic. The laser's quietness reduces anxiety for many patients. Lasers are great for kids.
Lasers focus light energy so precisely that less healthy enamel is removed and a smaller filling is required. Laser energy sterilizes the tooth surface, decreasing the risk of recurrent decay.
Lasers are very effective for cosmetic tissue procedures like gum lenghtening and for removing diseased gum tissue, canker sores and cold sores. In fact, if we treat cold sores early, during the tingling or prodromal phase, we can stop them from happening!
The laser does very exact work with minimal swelling and less need for sutures. It has a sterilizing deffect, can stop bleeding, and is gentle on the gums. In general, laser treatments are much more comfortable than comparable traditional treatment.
You can see why we use laser technology for about half of all operative dentistry. Over 80% of thoses patients are pain free without the use of a local anesthetic. That's right- pain free dentistry with no needle!
